Movie Size Too Large of File?

We are new to IMovie. We created our first movie. We downloaded video from our camera (15 minutes) and clipped it to about 5 to 6 minutes of video. We have no music or extras added. The project size is 257MB. This is huge. You can't email or post on any sites. I even tried to post on .Mac and it said the project was too small and had to post as a small screen to my gallery.

How do you get the movies to be a reasonable size?

What kind of camera do you have?
What settings did you use to share your project? (i.e. share to iTunes at LARGE)

canon zr800 is our camera

I tried to export to quicktime, but project was too large. Then exported to .Mac Large, then Medium and finally Small allowed me to upload. But I think it took up all the space in my Idisk

When you select Share at the top menu of iMovie and select where you want to share it to, it should compress it as necessary, especially if it is going to .Mac Web Gallery.

If you are sharing it by exporting to QuickTime, there are a few settings to go through which should ask you what you intentions are for the movie and compress it as necessary
