SCR CAC reader for Leopard

For those of you in the Department of Defense...

I have acquired an SCR 331 CAC reader from work, in order to log in to OWA with my CAC card, but I can't get Leopard to recognize it. I plug it, a solid light comes on, but no joy. I can't see my CAC in keychain access. Is there a driver out there or some other trick so I can get my Mac to recognize the card reader?

I too wish apple would fix this. For now I just keep a bare bones vmware session open in another screen. Ctrl+ arrow gets me back and forth quickly. Keep the resources minimal on the vm and you won't notice any slow down of mac apps.

I did find that vmware is much more reliable in using the CAC than Parallels as Parallels often has trouble getting the focus of the reader back.

I have both my e-mail and AKO configured to work with my CAC reader. I have had the same glitch requiring a restart in order to ensure proper login (although removing the CAC before logging out of AKO and enabling Private Browsing seem to mitigate the issue). My next challenge is enabling system login and screen saver login on my MacBook utilizing my CAC instead of my normal password. Does anyone have a guide to setting this up? Thanks for the assistance.

Same here. Apparently there's a difference between x.mil/Exchange & x.mil/Exchange/. Server didn't like the extra slash. And now "they" will expect me to do home-station work while I'm on the road... Next project is getting on the AF Portal.

Using SCR3310 v2.0, no firmware flash, Gemalto CAC. Just took the OS 10.5.7 update earlier today. Did have to import the x509 file.

New to the Mac world (~2 weeks) and appreciate everyone's help getting squared away!

After a very long search and finding some directions from Jeff in previous blogs, I have successfully been able to get into my email (webmail.east.nmci.navy.mil) account. However, when I log off or turn off my computer, I am not able to get back in by just going to the website. I have to go back through all the steps Jeff outlined. Can anyone suggest any ways to make the changes stay so I don't have to keep going back through all the steps?

I've been following this thread for two years now... hoping that this would get fully resolved. Obviously, the DoD has continued to stick Mac users with "those guys over there" status.

Anyway, I found this website today that might be of some assistance. I haven't had a chance to try it myself... it seems to address a slew of user base issues (NMCI, AKO, AF Portal, etc) and I'm surprised it took me this long to find it. I guess I've just gotten into the "Windows-sufferer" rut at work.

Here's the site: http://militarycac.com/

I look forward to reading some feedback. I plan on trying it tonight.
