HELP! "The iphone cannot be restored. An unknown error occurred (6)"
I was trying to update, and an message came up the reads: "The iphone cannot be restored. An unknown error occurred (6)." The screen on my iphone shows a charger with an arrow towards the itunes icon. I tried resetting my iphone and computer and that did not help.
Of the 75 odd iPhones I updated for customers yesterday, I saw that error twice. Both times I unplugged the device... reset it... plugged it back in and re-initialized the firmware update. It took on the second try and all was well.
The reason appeared to be, when the update dropped my iPhone to start the install, my wireless USB adapter went down too. It also failed when trying the restore. I got around the problem by, when the update dropped my iPhone to start the install and then dropped the wireless adapter, I quickly unplugged the replugged the adapter, and it the restored and updated successfully.
i managed to fix it...i have an imac in addition to my powerbook...so i restored it on the imac and then re-synced on the original powerbook...seems to be doing fine now.
