I am unable to sync my phone since the update. When i plug it in iphoto sees it and can get photos off of the phone, but itunes says the pairing record is missing. What can I do to resolve this?

MacBookPro, Mac OS X (10.5.1)

I had the same problem. The initial iphone update failed and I was forced to do a restore which wiped out my iphone and updated it. After the update itunes would not recognize my iphone so I wasn't able to sync

A reboot of my mac solved my problem. After rebooting the mac, itunes recognized my iphone and I was able to sync. At the first sync I had the option to restore from my backup.

Note: always make sure you have an update backed up your iphone before doing a update. You can check this in itunes>prefrences>iphone (syncing)

    Hope this helped

I have a similar thing happening in Leopard and iTunes. When going to 1.1.3 I restored back to the factory defaults, and then applied 1.1.3. Good, until today. I tried to sync and it got to contacts and then gave me "The phone was disconnected and could not be synced". The phone was still there, and every time I got the same message. But I then noticed I had no coverage, the phone had been deactivated.

I restored to defaults and resynced and everything worked OK (I didn't download my music, I had to get to work). But sounds like there is a syncing problem with the 1.1.3 firmware. Otherwise I really like the new firmware.

I am having the same problem. The iPhone is correctly detected in the system profiler and the error message sees the name of my phone so it knows the iPhone is there, but I get the error:
pairing record is missing. (Before the upgrade the error message was more cryptic.)
I have restarted, reinstalled, etc. What next Apple???

I had the same problems the download of the update failed. and than i redownload the update and the phone installed the firmware about. i had to restart my mac. the phone would not be recognize, very glitch, freezing on safari, or if ipod is playing it would crash completely. i notice that it drained the battery faster with this update as well. when you get 20% - 10% of bat life the phone freezes more constanly. and the home screen to open apps the icon turn gray when touching them. i contacted i phone support i send in my phone for report. i have no clue if i got a replacement or if the just reflashed it. i sent it out on tuesday after fedex giving a hassle about apple shipping label. and it got fixed and reshipped last night so im hoping its replacement. i should be expecting it today by no later than 2 pm by fedex.

    carter840,

    Delete iTunes from /Applications/

Delete the receipts for iTunes from /Library/Receipts/ (There will probably be at least 2, and as many as 4).

    Download iTunes and reinstall it.

    Hope this helps,

    Nathan C.

How would I find the receipts on windows xp?
  • Nathan C Level 5 Level 5 (6,260 points)
    lando173,

Receipts are a part of how OS X keeps track of what is installed. The steps for XP are different. The steps for XP are in this article:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=307078

    Hope this helps,

i found another, simpler solution for the "pairing" error
(which may not work in all cases) is simply to restart the computer.
