Same here. In addition, when I switch to Safari, it comes to the front and is active, but the menu bar still shows the menu from whatever was the previous frontmost app. Lastly, if I deliberately bring several different app windows onto the screen, choose one of the non-Safari ones, and hit Command-Option-H, all of the other apps EXCEPT Safari hide themselves, but Safari won't hide.
This seems to be new with 10.5.3, but I'm not positive.
I get the same problem, it happens with both Safari and Mail. The only way to get the hide function to work again is to quit and re-open the app (thankfully Apple included the 'Reopen all windows from last session' option in Safari now).
@sgginc the option will be dimmed if all other apps are hidden (ie Safari is the only one not hidden).
Fairly annoying and yet another problem plaguing my previously (< 10.5) super stable Mac! Leopard is without a doubt the buggiest/worst Apple OS I have ever used! Very sad...
I had the same problem... all "Hide" options become dimmed for some reason..
Then I opened up iTunes, pressed command
optionh..and Safari hid! ... But once I closed iTunes, Safari wouldn't hide anymore.. and then out of nowhere "Hide" became available again...
This has been a plague for ever... Therefore, I usually don't use the "Hide" feature. now I'm stuck again with a Safari that doesn't show its menu bar.
