I am currently using the Otterbox defender for my iphone. I love the case. However, I am having trouble getting rid of the air bubbles between the iphone screen and the protective layer of the case. I tried all the suggestions from this forum and from otterbox customer service - 1.Cleaning the screen and protective layer with rubbing alcohol 2.Cleaning the screen with a lint free cloth 3.Rubbing the screen with my hand. Nothing works!!!! The air bubbles are driving me nuts!! I am thinking about removing the protective layer from the case. Has anyone tried this?? Or,are there any other suggestions for getting rid of the air bubbles?

I'm with you. Have bought several cases and finally decided to spend the money for the Otterbox because I thought it looked great and loved that is ws pretty much dust free. However, I am just about ready to trash it because I cannot stand the bubbles. Please, please -- there is surely someone out there that can give a clue as to how to get rid of them. This is my first protective cover that I cannot work the bubbles out.

For those that removed the Otterbox's protective film, did you cut it out or just pop it out? I'm going to try the Crystal Film tip and if that doesn't work, the stock film is coming out.
I stumbled upon a solution. I used to use a screen protector like the Crystal Film before the OB. I removed it to use the OB and had the same problem.
I put the film screen protector back on and now the OB does not suffer from air bubbles at all. Is perfectly smooth. You can't even tell its there.
So pick up a pack at staples or something and that will do the trick.

What exactly is the crystal film protector? I had the screen protector from my iSkin on it and that's when I noticed the bubbles. I tool it off because I thought that was causing my problem. I am sure there has to be a solution because too many people are using the Otterbox and seem to happy with it. I am very picky -- just can't stand those bubbles.
Thanks for the advice.

I also use a screen protector with my Defender case. I bought the anti-glare screen protector from Apple online and it does not interfere at all with the Defender membrane and it looks beautiful. No bubbles at all!
I found that if I used a 3m laptop screen cleaner on the screen and the back of the membrane, that it didnt stick. But I later got a large nick in the outside of the OB screen protector that was driving me nuts. So I decided to remove it. I wanted to keep the covering over the light sensor and the speaker for the phone so I used a razor to neatly cut around that section. Then I just pushed it out until the adheasive broke free and it came off. I had to clean off a little adheasive in a couple of spots around the edge of the case. It looks great and works perfectly. I am currently in the process of purchasing an invisible shield screen protector for the front of the phone so I have the glass protected again from scratches.
I have found the best way to eliminate the oil slick is to use a screen cleaner on both the iphone and the interior of the case. I used the monster lcd cleaner and i have not had the oil slick since. Give that a shot and I think you will be happy. I love my defender case. It keeps my phone protected completely and it works really well.
For those of you interested in getting a case for your BlackBerry or iPhone, I just read on a blog from http://www.semsons.com that they are offering free shipping on OtterBox cases for iPhones and BlackBerries. Check out the link here: http://semsons.blogspot.com. You can find the cases here: http://www.semsons.com/cases.html. This offer expires 4/14/08.
I ended up removing the protective film for the screen and camera lens. I couldn't be happier! Finally no more air bubbles!
Ditto, ditto, and uh, . . ditto. I haven't had the nerve to mutilate the case yet.
