Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard-- Some keys don't work

About a year and a half ago I purchased an Apple Bluetooth Wireless keyboard. I generally use it with my Macbook. For a while, I did not use it at all. However, recently, I've been wanting to use it again for various reasons and so I pulled it back out. It turns out it isn't working quite as well as it should. Most of the keys work fine, but a few don't-- namely the space bar, the command key to the left of the space bar, and the letters Z, X, C, V, and B. Every other key works fine.

I pulled the keys off, and while there was some dirt in the keyboard, I cleaned it out and these keys still do not work. I also tried depressing the little plastic bit that the keys ultimately press to input a characters (I hope somebody understands what I mean by that) with a paper clip, and still nothing. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Not any sort of help, I know, but...

I'm not sure the new Apple keyboards (i.e., the "chiclet" keyboards) are up to sustained use. The keys just wear out very quickly, especially high-use keys like the spacebar. I would not recommend these keyboards to anyone but the lightest touch-typist who only uses the computer a few hours a week. Possibly in a dust-free area.

Personally, I think these are for show, not for go. I'm back to the white-and-clear model that came with my SO's iMac G5. Which is unfortunate, because I got the wireless mini keyboard from Apple to save some desk space (or, provide more desk space to the other specific-duty input devices I like to use).

This evening I could finaly pair my Apple Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard. But, not with surprise, I noticed that also some keys of mine don't work. It is a brand new keyboard...

I have to go on typing with my logitec keyboard wich never lets me down!

So I agree with an other who meant the Apple wireless keyboard is only for show and not for working!!!

Even I don't have the number pad on the right side (thing I didn't notice when I choosed the wireless Keyboard for my first iMac).

I love wireless Keyboard because of the freedom of position.... The Apple one is very nice.... If it only would work as well as it looks!!!!

I'm disapointed of it!

I will try to change it in a warranty action and if possible change it with the wired keyboard.

If in the meanwile somebody has a solution for the missing keys I would be glad to try it!

Yes, I now have 2 dead wireless keyboards.
1. a year old. (White) long slippery boat.
2. a day old. (Aluminum) shorty. Velcro to steering wheel would bling.
But Yes, mounted on a wall they look really cool framed behind glass backlit.

I noticed regardless what I tried, the white keyboards keys start to stick from poor grade of plastic used. The sad thing is, I really liked my white one. Such a cruel world.

Just to throw another on the heap, I had same situation as first writer. I bought wireless keyboard June 2007 to work with MacBook Pro. It would never pair correctly. After recent OS upgrade thought I'd try it again and it did pair, but the space bar, period and comma do not work. Apple Store won't exchange or return and it's too late for Amazon. So I have yet another very beautiful and very useless Apple product and several hours of aggravation. Thanks so much!
