Will a 512MB PC133 chip work in a Beige G3?

I have one from a imac that isn't working properly. Just wondering if i can put it in the Beige G3. Will the machine recognize it?

Your G3 uses PC66 (66MHZ) SDRAM. The PC133 RAM will not work. On Macs that initially used PC100 RAM, a PC133 RAM module would work, but only at 100MHz.

If you want some PC66 RAM, suggest you join LEM-Swap for buying & selling Mac stuff. http://groups.google.com/group/lemswap
After you join, post a WTB (want to buy) & you'll probably get multiple offers.

 Cheers, Tom 😉

Kind of too bad there's no software/XPF-like thing to trick the beige into using 512MB, even if it was some sort of inefficient bank-switching or something like that. Like maybe giving the drives DMA to the other bank, or using it as another drive to store your image on when you edit w/photoshop. I dunno. -shrugs-

The 128GB storage limit can be fixed with software alone, apparently, so it seems maybe possible a workaround would have worked here, too. Too bad no one ever did it =|
