Question

iPod touch Mail application

I have a couple questions. One, what is SSL? I was having problems getting my email to work and then i turned SSL off and I started receiving email. I just tried to sent an email and it won't work. It said that it cannot connect to my mail outgoing mail server. I know that I have it typed in correctly. Any suggestions?

There are typically two servers for email. One server for receiving email and one server for sending(SMTP). Both servers typically require a login name and password. Many email providers, but not all, require unique login names and passwords for the two servers. You need to check with your service provider for the proper information.

You may have luck leaving SSL turned on (providing your ISP supports it), and also in the advanced section, change the outgoing port to 587. Port 25 will be the default and is often blocked. I just set mine up to get my work email as well as my personal, changing the port fixed sending.
