can't send email using wirelees linksys router

Hello - I have a powerbook G4 and a powerbook G3 that has OS 10.3.9. The problem is this, I can receive emails, but can't sent them (using Mac mail). The PC, that has the cable modem and wireless router (WRT54G) hooked up to, has no problem sending or receiving emails (using Outlook).

I have spoken with RoadRunner, and they said port 25 is not blocked, and I have also spoken with Linksys, opening ports etc., with no luck. I am using RoadRunners SMTP server, and currently am at a deadend on what I can do.

Both macs show up on the network ok, I just can't send any email. The firewall is turn off on my macs, and the port is set to 25.

Any ideas on what I need to do? (different router ??)

Thanks-Rick

Start by making sure you can connect to the mail server *at all*.

Open teminal , type:
telnet (your.mailserver.here) 25

Where (your.mailserver.here) is the name of your RR mail server. Your ISP mail server should answer, that's a good place to start. Should look a bit like this:
hobart:~ $ telnet mail-in5.apple.com 25
Trying 17.254.13.6...
Connected to mail-in5.apple.com.
Escape character is '^]'.
220 mail-in5.apple.com ESMTP Apple OSX Email Relay; Tue, 18 Oct 2005 10:45:43 -0700 (PDT) Authorized Use Only
quit
221 2.0.0 mail-in5.apple.com closing connection
Connection closed by foreign host.
