Can't change username when connecting to server

Steps to execute:
1. Connect to server (cmd-K)
2. Select the icon for the server in question
3. Login window pops up with the user name I'm currently logged into my own computer as.
4. I tab up to that field and even though the contents of "Name" are highlighted, I can't type over it or delete it.
5. I have to hit Enter, let it give an error, go back to the Name field, and then can delete it and enter the correct user name to access that server.

It only happens when accessing a particular computer (p to p network), and interestingly enough, it happens coming back the other way too! That is, when I sit at ~that~ computer and try to connect to ~this~ computer, I'm stuck in the same way, have to let it generate an error, and then I can enter the correct userid and password.

Any thoughts?
