When I pan left, the volume is turned down instead of being panned left???

The instrument strip and output 1-2 are both in stereo in my environment. I don't get it-any ideas anyone?

I'm using logic 7.2.3

Thanx in advance

Thanks for your response.

hrmmm..... I don't see any "Pan Law". I'm running Logic 7.2.3 btw.

I think it might be my audio drivers.

"I have a FW 410 interface, everything seems to work fine except for the panning. Instead of panning properly, the volume is turned down when I pan left and volume is raised when I pan right. This only happens when I have the FW 410 interface selected in the audio/hardware setup. Panning under the built-in audio works fine so I would imagine it's the M-Audio drivers for the FW 410 that need a working update for Leopard."

Can anyone confirm this?

Thanx again in advance,

Paul

Check in Settings->Audio (it should be in the top toolbar if you haven't changed anything yet).

"Pan Law" is what you are looking for. As far as I understand it 0 is the setting you have right now. -3 takes the signal and drops it 3db when you pan. -3 db compensated pans the signal but keeps the same level.

I may not have all the terminology right so if someone else reads this please correct me. But yeah, that's probably where you are running into a problem.

No, there is absolutely no fundamental panning problem using a FW410.

You've got something funky going on in your routing.

Switch Logic to your internal core audio, and use the headhpone output on your computer. Does panning work as expected, or not? If yes, then the issue is related to the 410, if no, then it's in Logic.

Start there. I suspect you've got something odd going on in the mixer panel of the 410, like both outputs panned in the centre or routed to a bunch of channels oddly.
