Accessing an Olympus Voice Recorder through USB

My wife has an Olympus Voice Recorder that has a USB port for sharing information. The model is VC-480PC. When it is plugged into the eMac the computer can see the device and even recognize it as an Olympus Voice Recorder, but it will not show it as a drive or let us access the files inside. The software that comes with the unit is simply a player for the DSS format sound files the unit creates.

Has anyone found a way to access a unit like this or found a driver for it for the Mac?

I'm in the exact same boat. I just spoke with tech support at Olympus and was told that the 480PC does not work with Macintosh computers and they have no plans on releasing drivers for it. Olympus does have a voice recorder that will work on Macs, the DS-2 which is much more expensive than the 480PC (about $150 compared to $60 for the 480PC). The specs on the DS-2 state that Mac supported OSs are: Mac OS 10.1/10.2/10.3.
