I'm using Windows so VisualHub won't work. I have been using "DVD to Apple TV converter". What's strange is that I can record a movie at the best settings and stop about an hour in and it work fine. At the point, the file size is below 2gig. I have problems if I let it complete and the file size is above 2gig. I am using the free version of "QT". Perhaps there is a file size limit with that.

I got HandBrake to work. What settings do you recomment for ATV? When I used the Apple Tv setting it worked pretty quick and I could view the file in iTunes, but it would not import into ATV. I got a message saying it was not playable on ATV. The "Normal" setting (h.264) seems to work good. I did a few minutes of a movie and it looks good and works with ATV, but it seems to take a lot longer (hours).

Just for giggles... this should have no bearing really... go under preferences and check use .m4v extension for movies.

All I use is the AppleTV preset with the exception of adding 2-pass to settings.

I import it into iTunes and it syncs right over. I am using a Mac however, which you wouldn't think would matter.

I'm not sure what to tell you if you're doing it that way and it's not working.

With Handbrake 0.9.1, always select "Apple TV" under the "Presents" column on the right side of the window. When you say it is "not playable on ATV" do you mean by streaming or syncing or both?

Both. I can import it into iTunes and play it, but when I select it to sync with Apple TV I can an unusual icon to the right side of the Apple TV in devices. When you click on it the message says that it is not playable on Apple TV. I'm trying again with the Apple TV Preset and this time I am using the H.264 instead of MP4. I'll post back when it is done.
