I'm sorry it didn't work for you (as it has for so many - including friends that haven't posted here) - but it obviously doesn't work for everyone.
Still, there is something about deleting certain files that helps.

My problem started when I did an Airport firmware upgrade a year or so ago. None of the suggestions have helped for me. I bought a new MBP and it's working fine along with my old MBP. If this happens again, I'll probably switch to an iPad since no one seems to be having any issues with their iPhones or iPads.
Nothing worked for me until the deleting of the Keychain passwords related to Airport. When you say big fix do you mean going to zero by wiping everything on the computer and reloading? I was willing to do that. Glad I didn't have to but I would have. I would have tried everything I could and then if nothing worked I would have called Apple Customer Relations. I think everything software related can be fixed. You just have to find the right little thing, which is usually a pain to find.

With the 'big' fix - I just meant it corrected my BIG and long-standing wifi connection problems. And seems to have corrected them for good. The fix is deleting the files that '2dutch' recommended, which I have posted several times.
Nothing else worked.
One of the MBP's I purchased in May of 2009 was so wifi-problematic that Apple replaced it (I called corporate Customer Care and received a new one the next day -- after long-documented problems.) The new MBP had no wifi problems until a software update. Then it was back to dropping the signal every few minutes (never as bad as the 2009 model though).
But I found this site and followed 2dutch by deleting specific files - and never had to go further.
This seems to have worked for me, thanks! Although I have deleted all files in that folder and rebooted. Was dropping connections every 5 mins and had to reconfigure every time. Been up and running with no interruptions for over an hour now....
To anyone else - try this first before going to Apple. I'm cancelling my appointment.

I have another issue everytime I boot my Macbook pro 13 with retina it would't connect to WIFI, I have to switch the WIFI off and then switch it on everytime after shutdown or reboot. This is really annoying. I hade before bunch of PC and never issues with Hardware-Drivers *** is with APPLE???

It seems newer routers have both the 2.4/5.0Ghz bands sharing the same SSID which caused me a problem.
My issue appears to be caused by newer versions of OS X and particular hardware, most likely an introduced software bug. If your wifi is configured with both the 2.4Ghz / 5.0Ghz frequency band and share the same SSID the disconnecting of the wifi occurred.
After trying most forum suggestions on my older newly mavericks upgraded MacBook Pro which started disconnecting the wifi every 5-30 seconds.
Solution for me for now was to go onto my AirPort Extreme / airport express and reconfigure the 2.4/5.0 Ghz bands to have different SSID's. Open airport utility, click edit, advanced, changed 5.0Ghz SSID to something different, reboot.
I am able to connect to either band and no dropping issue.
Apple still needs to fix OS X but this work around will do for now.

Just wanted to add to this long thread. Everything had been fine - I've had my new MacBook pro for over a year. I upgraded to Mavericks and 2 weeks after the upgrade, I noticed the problem. Dropped WIFI connections every 5 minutes. Sometimes it'll work for a long block but then it goes into a phase where it drops frequently. At wit's end. My other (Windows!) machines work fine with WIFI w/ no dropped connections. Why all of a sudden??

Yesterday I changed my router's settings and now I don't see any WiFi issues.

Possible Wifi Connectivity Fix:
I've been to Apple store several times. My wifi started cutting off a few months ago. If I restarted my computer, then it could find a network. But would soon lose connection after that. They have tried replacing Display, Airport card, have deleted network preferences and tried making a new user account.
Today, finally, there seems to be a longer lasting fix. They replaced a cable, that connects the airport card to the logic board.
If you've had similar symptoms, perhaps this could be your fix as well. (hopefully its my fix too, but it has only been 8 hours without dropping connection).
[My symptoms: I began to notice that if I restarted my computer, it could find a network. Then if I moved my laptop somewhere else, picked it up, or anything, or even had it sitting in my lap and not on a flat surface it would drop connection immediately upon moving..]

All of you folks suggesting changes to your router or access point are missing a key point.
I am using the very latest Apple Airport Extreme, pulled out of the box and setup using all of Apple's defaults, changing nothing. I'm running a very new Macbook Pro Retina Display (early 2013) with all the default settings. It's running the very latest updates on Mountain Lion -- all the very latest software (except not Mavericks yet).
In short, I am running a complete Apple setup, installed and configured with all the Apple defaults, running the very latest software. And yet, my wifi drops after a few hours. I have to turn wifi off and back on to get it to come back.
This is unacceptable. It needs to be addressed.
