Dual Quad-core Mac Pro reboots from sleep

My brand-new Mac Pro nearly always restarts rather than waking up from sleep. Just now I left it to go to sleep by itself and came back two or three hours later. When I touched the space bar, it restarted.

I have an IOGear firewire hub plugged in with nothing attached to it and lots of USB devices plugged in.

Chad,
thanks for posting.
There MIGHT be a pattern with the disk. The Baltimore Sun Computer columnist said something similar. However, this is hard to universally apply:
I for example have 3 drives total in my system: the one in the first bay has ALWAYS been the startup disk (and only startup disk), while bay 2 and 3 are raided (actually, striped) via Raid 0.
Nothing in Bay 4. Still, I have the reboot on sleep-awake problem.

What is odd, and I tried this on 2 systems now, that when initially booting to DVD and partioning drives, the unix drive level (and slices the GUI shows) aren't sync with the bays. That is, the drive in bay one might show up as DISK2 and so forth - which SHOULD not be a problem, but is odd (usually drive bay 1 (or 0) should mean disk1 for the unpartitioned space.....).

Hey s w_i_t_t_e_rs, hatter, etal , just thought I would update that the "issue" still has yet to return since Feb 24, so now passing the month milestone. Still no drive selected in the Startup Disk Pref Pane and haven't reset the PRAM or SMC since either.

Side note, I think that maybe everyone should start going to Apple Stores and start putting all the MP's on display to sleep. Maybe all the rebooting "bongs" will garner some attention from the public and perhaps it may force at least some response out of corporate. Perhaps just a little civil disobedience is in order? Just a thought.

Sandylp and sleep deprived users,
Don't know how it happened but after reading through the thread, I checked my startup disk preferences and discovered that no drives were selected, and it has been two weeks since the sleep problem reared its ugly dong. I'm putting in my owc memory now and will let you know how things go.
