AppleMobileDeviceHelper has stopped working

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

Alright.. I get this message, constantly, as iTunes is running.

I just downloaded the new 7.6 version and am running on a Vista system. I have not had this problem before so I don't think it's Vista's fault.

Basically once I start iTunes the heading "AppleMobileDeviceHelper has stopped working" in a small new windows pops up, then showing a loading bar saying that it's looking for ways to solve this problem. Then that message in bold will show up and give me the option to "Close program".

I click that button.. nothing happens.. and five seconds later it does the same thing. If I click cancel while it's on the screen looking for ways to fix it.. it dissapears.. but then starts up.. again. If I leave it alone without clicking "Close program" once it's done loading.. another one will pop up anyways.

I've had 25 windows eventually pop up because I am trying to ignore this. I went into my task manager and tried to stop the program but it still does nothing. Tried rebooting computer.. nothing.. and now i'm searching for answers on what I should do.

I just got a new laptop with Windows Vista. The first thing I downloaded with the new version of itunes. I keep getting the same message from windows as well. Its annoying because it pops up every five seconds. I am not going to be using Itunes until thats fixed.

Same here. I'm afraid to use iTunes because I don't know what else it will do. I won't even hook up my iPod because I can't open up the program without incessant messages telling me my applemobiledevice has stopped working. I think this has to do with the iPhone, which I don't have...so I don't understand what's going on.

I read something about the new version, 7.6, is supposed to be used for 64bit computers...I have 32bit. I wonder if that has anything to do with it...

I have the same annoying problem since today when i updated my iTunes!! that ***** big time as i use iTunes on my pc to listen to my music when i'm at home..it's stressing when every 5sec a new window is popping up!! Please apple do somthing about!!

I am having the exact same problem. I have windows vista, and the new version of iTunes keeps giving me the repeated "AppleMobileDeviceHelper has stopped working" error.

iTunes has also stopped recognizing my iPod.
I'd really like to just be able to listen to my music and update my iPod. So, PLEASE fix this problem!

it just seems that 7.6 is very incompatible for pc. my comp. even had problems with quicktime. i don't really know what's going on, but i hope it's fixed soon because i uninstalled itunes and won't install it again till it's fix...it really screwed up my computer. =(

iTunes and PC go with each other like oil and water. I've had nothing but problems since I got my iPod touch....no drivers, bad installs, no AppleMobileDeviceSupport, pretty much everything.

Just uninstall everything and install iTunes. Or if your Apple Updater has the files recently downloaded, you can run the installer again.

Now that I have posted in this topic, it will most likely stop getting replies. My posts never get replies.

This worked for me but im not sure bout it.

open explorer and browse to: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\bin
delete all the files there. u wont be able to delete 2 of them; doesnt matter. now open itunes and it works normally

again, there aint no "warranty"

*layperson's solution*

If you only use iTunes for your iPod, then you could uninstall the Apple Mobile Device Helper program from your program list. I have Vista, which never works with anything, so I feel your pain.

I assume you have Windows. Go to Control Panel, then Programs, then Uninstall a Program, and click on the Apple Mobile Device program and hit uninstall. I did this, and the problem was instantly solved. I didn't have the problem until installing the latest iTunes software either, so the bug for me was new.

I don't think it's a needed program unless you have an iPhone, but I may be wrong. I'm only a layperson. But my iPod synced just fine after I did this.

every time i try to uninstall the program underneath the control pannel unistall programs, it looks like everything is going fine until the green bar that tells you how long you have to go, started to move backwards. i would really like to figure out how to figure this because i need to use my ipod.

That AppleMobileDeviceHelper is driving me INSANE! I don't even use the Iphone, but everytime I use itunes, it loads about 13 different instances of itself and really bogs down my computer. I hate it! It's made me use itunes sparingly if at all, only to update my ipod.

I wish apple would fix this issue! It's as bad as Norton Antivirus running LuCallbackProxy ten billion times!!

The EXACT same problem happened to me. I run on Vista and had installed the lastest version of iTunes, then the problem started.

I went to the Control Panel and Uninstalled "Apple Mobile Device Support". I then reopened iTunes and it now seems to be running fine, so give the uninstall a try.

You only have to delete the file named "AppleMobileDeviceHelper" in that folder:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\bin

I tried that first, instead of wiping out the entire folder.. and it worked.

Windows vista ***** and this proves it once again. I am still having the same problem and I have tried all the suggestions here. I am still unable to sync my new iphone 3G. Also the dotmacsyncclient keeps crashing too. I have yet to be able to sync anything to mobileMe from my vista machine.

I deleted everything but the two files that wouldn't delete. Seem to work, had a little trouble sincing iPhone( haven't tried updating it yet) but it synced. I restord all deleted files exept AMDH, now promplem with data synce service when plugging iPhone in and iTunes is nonresponsive. So whats up now?
