Lexmark X9350

My main box is now running 10.5.1 with a Brother MCF. no issues.( dumped the Lexmark that was with it) But now I have to deal with my Mac PRO. If I cant get the X9350 to work with leopard on this I will have to sell it and get something else.

I cant really wait till March 08 for the new leopard drivers for this. I notice Lexmark have brought out a new range ,X9575 , which TODAY has leopard drivers. will these work.

If I have to sell and get another printer it sure will not be LEXMARK.

Actually they have several printers that work with Leopard. I have an older color laser that works just fine with Leopard and has worked with my Intel Macs since they were first purchased.

Brother has printers as well that are Windows only. Key thing is before you buy any printer is to check the manufacturer's website to see if they have a current driver that works with OS X's current or recent version (and is a universal binary if using on an Intel Mac.) That will save you a lot of aggravation.

I also had problems with my Lexmark. The icon while printing showed a different printer in the Dock. I got excellent service from Lexmark and their reply is below.
It seems that it's important to disconnect the USB from the printer and come off the Internet after downloading.
Ignore the .exe and Winzip stuff.
By following their instructions below, I have the X9350 printer icon in the Dock:-

Delete the Lexmark folder found in /Library/Printers (that is, remove the
contents as well as the folder itself).

Delete the file LexmarkUSBMerge.kext in /System/Library/Extensions. Once it
is removed, restart your computer.

1. Please copy and paste the link given below in the web browser.

http://www.downloaddelivery.com/downloads/cpd/9300Series_Web_InstallerLPD.dmg

2. Save it onto Desktop.

3. Once the file has been downloaded, log off the Internet and close all
programs.

4. Double-click the downloaded file to open the Winzip Self-Extractor
screen. The WinZip program will offer a folder to unzip the files to.

5. If you want to use this folder, click Unzip. If you want to use another
folder, use the Browse option to locate it and then click Unzip. The files
should then begin unzipping into the folder.

6. Once the files are unzipped, open the folder and look for the setup.exe
file.

7. Double-click on this file. The driver installation will start. You will
first see a Lexmark License Agreement.

8. Read the information and select Yes if you agree to the terms. (Note: If
you select No, you will not be able to install the printer driver.)

9. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

During installation please select as wireless, and let the usb cable be
unplugged and when it prompts to plug the usb cable only then plug in the
cable.

They now have a driver for the printer, but it doesn't enable wireless printing. So if you are connected using USB, the driver is great - otherwise not go. To resolve this, I installed the driver for the x7550 which is a wireless printer and now I can print to my x9350 when I am not connected to the printer via usb. I had to manually enter the IP address for the printer during the install, but other than that, it works great.

Hi there,

also cannot get the X9350 to work with 10.5.2, not even usb. Since everybody seems to have only problems with wireless printing, maybe some can point me to what I'm doing wrong?

I downloaded the leopard drivers from lexmark, reinstalled leopard, resetted the printer pressing that x and green button simultaniously while pressing the power button without a cable connected, reconfigured the printers regional/time settings, wait for that line adjustment page to be printed, only then connected the usb cable, driver installation succeeds, setup assistent starts, can see the printer in system preferences, can see a print job in the printer Q, but it just wont print the test page nor any other page?
When stopping and resuming the print it keeps saying the printer's busy. On reboot, the printer releases an empty page.

I'm sure it's the driver, since both networked and usb printing works just fine from WinXP SP2 on the same machine, in fact, I can even print from leopard
using a Parallels Desktop Virtual machine.

Thanks for any hints.

I recently moved from PC to a MacBook. I followed every instruction and hint I could find to get my Lexmark 9350 to print wirelessly, which was why I bought it in the first place. I even tried using my Time Capsule with USB and it wouldn't recognize the printer.

With the help of my personal tech support team (my daughter works for Apple), we were able to get it to print wirelessly through the Time Capsule with an ethernet connection.

Now, on to the next step --- getting my external hard drive to work wirelessly through Time Capsule.
