tax on movies??

i had 15 dollars on my itunes account then downloaded a movie that was 9.99 and instead of me having 5.01 left i only had 4.20 is this because of tax or did something go wrong?

and how long should it take to download its a 1.22 gig movie and i have a fast internet connection and it sais it will take 6 hours.
