X11 libexpat Tiger version DOWNGRADE?

After installing Tiger on top of 10.3.9, upgrading to 10.4.2, installing Xcode 2.0 and upgrading to 2.1, and then last night installing the 10.4.3 Combo upgrader, I discovered that somewhere along the way /usr/X11R6/lib/libexpat.dylib had been DOWNGRADED from libexpat.1.0.dylib to libexpat.0.4.dylib.

My copy of ethereal compiled and installed under 10.3.9 refused to start: it wanted version 1.0 or higher.

xterm v1.1 refused to start using libexpat.1.0.dylib: it wants 0.4.

I've found a workaround, but why on earth would Apple DOWNGRADE an XML object parser which seems to have worked perfectly well in the past?

Hi Outer,
I certainly don't know the reasoning but the "downgrade" comes with Tiger itself, in the X11User.pkg package. For what it's worth, Fink only installs version 0.5. My Ethereal works fine with the Tiger version. Maybe you just have to recompile it.
