He might be able to program a code into a remote he already has or he could pay $150 for a new remote, two thirds the price of the device he wants to control....reminds me of M A*SH.

Without knowing the exact model of your remote, we cannot assist you any further! Cox offers fifteen different ones out here in So CA...some can be taught, some cannot.

I just ordered the Harmony 550 to control my Pioneer plasma, Motorola HD DVR, Sony Theater and Apple TV. I am about to go nuts looking for four remotes all the time LOL.

I sure am enjoying my Logitech Harmony 880! Just tell te computer program what components you have, and it programs itself.

I have been using the same Logitech wireless mouse with my last 5 Macs, their products are great and when I started researching remotes I was stoked to find that Logitech was in on the game and seriously doing some incredible things at great prices. Love them! Though I do think Im gonna hit their site now to replace that old USB wireless mouse with a BT model 🙂

Don't overlook Kensington for BT mice for the Mac. I am pleased with my K72271 and PilotBoard BT mice. I just received their new flat/sleek/sexy SlimBlade Media Presentation mouse - but it's not BT, it's 2.4gHZ.

The 880 is awesome. It does everything. I truly use only one remote for everything.

I programmed my Philips Pronto Universal Remote with codes from remotecentral.com to emulate the Apple Remote and it works just fine. Search the site for Apple Remote for the remote you are using. Most remotes can also just learn the codes also.
