Stock percentage changes wrong

The stock percentage changes are wrong. Has this been reported or commented on?

Today, for example:
Apple 139.07 -16.57 -10.65% but iPhone reports -9.62%
Dow 12,270.17 +298.98 +2.50% but iPhone reports +2.56%

Percent change should be

Change divided by prior day close

this is definately an industry standard, there is no other way to do it.

Windows XP Pro, Outlook 2007

The prices of $139.07 -16.57 for appl and the 12,270.17 +298.98 are prices after closing and the iphone last update is the last prices at the close of the market.

I'm not arguing with the price changes which your post addresses but rather that the percentage changes dont equal the price changes nor do they equal last, closing, or any other actual percentage change. I think the calculation of the percentage changes is just plain wrong.

They are also wrong on the dashboard widget.

Yahoo 27.78, up 8.60 percentage reported as 82.41% instead of around 50%.

The numbers are fed from Yahoo! Finance's RSS Feed.

i am REALLY glad you posted this. i usually check stocks on iphone, and then dont bother with checking it against my cpu or tv.
