iTunes rentals on Apple TV

Does anyone know whether it is, or will be, possible to watch movies rented on iTunes (i.e., stored on the computer) via Apple TV? The text for the rentals states that it is possible to sync iTunes rentals with iPhones and iPod, but no word of Apple TV.

It seems that movies will be de-coupled between Apple TV and iTunes: either you rent and watch on ATV but can't watch on computer, iPhone or iPod (fair enough); or you rent on iTunes, in which case you won't be able to watch the movie on ATV (this ***** a bit, really).

I downloaded a TV show to my itunes and wasn't allowed to watch it on the appleTV. I am anxiously awaiting the upgrade. Not cause I plan on buying or renting movies. I just would like to see a new interface. I may download a high def movie when the right one comes along. The quality of the store downloads is pitiful currently. Reminds me of the horrible 128 bit songs they sell.
