does anyone know where i can get another power cable for my imac g3 and what is it called.
your help is much apreciated

On the iMac G3 it is simply a bog-standard "kettle" plug (the standard is called IEC 320 plug):

iMac G4, iMac G5 and Intel iMacs use a variant of the IEC 320 called the C5 "Cloverleaf" perhaps some later iMac G3s did too:
