PAC code from Vodafone. Help!

Hey All..

I was wondering what experiences anyone has had porting their number from Vodafone. I called VF yesterday and they lady told me I would need to cancel my account with VF by sending a letter to them. On receipt of that letter they would register that I requested a PAC code and I would then receive it in the next 5 days. Is this standard? I have been reading on this forum that many people have phoned other providers such as Virgin and O2 requesting a code and getting it over the phone...has anyone else had this joy with VF?
I just want to speed the process up a little. Would appreciate any help.

When I activated my iPhone, my PAC was texted to my old mobile. I was already with 02 and kept the same number, though I did have to renew my contract. Also, when I needed it again, to activate a replacement, I rang 02 and they simply gave it to me. It may be that Vodafone just do it differently.

I moved from Vodafone to o2 or the iPhone...all you really need to do, is send a fax to them saying that you would want to request your PAC code (its quicker than a letter). The lady then emailed me my new PAC code a few days later (1 or 2) and then i received a letter with Vodafone with the PAC code on it a few days after that. As far as i know, Voda dont offer the PAC code over the phone...but request them to email it to you...that would save time...

Hi,

I am just switching. Got my PAC code from Vodafone within 24 hours after requesting it from their support line. They called me back to confirm and said they were would be happy to text it to me. I didn't get the text so after 4-5 hours called them and the guy gave it me over the phone. Pretty sweet really. I got my temporary number by email within minutes of registering the iPhone and my old Vodafone number should switch to the iPhone tomorrow, about 8 days after requesting the switch.

Not as bad as I was expecting really.

Thanks for the help...you wouldn't happen to know the fax number would you? I remember trying to get it from them before and having no joy.
