Ipod classic Firmware on ipod video?

Since this is a user to user forum only that Apple employees seldom participate in, no one on these forums can answer your question. The one thing I can tell you is that if you run a "search" in this forum, you will find that this issue has been discussed dozens of times.

they may not be that much different, but remeber that the hardware on the 5g is a few years younger than the iPod classic. The 5g's processor probably could not handle such features as coverflow. But there is a way you can get your 5g firmware to look a little like the classic. First you must download iPodwizard(google it, it is free) then you search google for "ipod classic firmware" you should be able to download the firmware and there should also be instructions on the website. It's simple and easy, and altho people probably will dissagree but it does NOT void your warranty. If anything DOES go wrong you can restore it and it will be back to new.

Oh, there is one very drastic difference. The Classic has an Authentication chip which prevents video out from working unless you trot down to your nearest Apple store and plop down another $49 so you can watch your videos without trifocles

im not sure if there is a mac version, i tried googling it but im at school right now so i cant see much of the download pages.
