WD 1TB Internal Hard Drive.

In the Best Buy ad this week there is a Western Digital 1TB Hard Drive for $299.99. I have a Power Mac G5 (dual 1.8 GHz) and was wondering if this hard drive would work inside my machine. I havnt found anywhere saying there is a limit for an internal hard drive size. It is a SATA, 3.5" HD, so it will fit in the lower hard drive slot. Hello,
I just asked the same question of this panel over the weekend and receeved a positive response. I purchased the WD 1 TB Internal HD from Best Buy and installed it yesterday. It works like a dream and the installation was very easy. The G5 User Guide gave me everything I needed to open the side panel, locate the 4 spacer screws, screw them onto the sides of the drive, insert the drive, attached the cables and them partition the disk. Up and running just fine. (Now, unfortunately I bought my drive BEFORE they reduced the price to $299!)

This scientific conclusion is based on what factual information?

Don't base a raw SATA drive with their woeful MyBook external drive performance, as that is apples and oranges.

Hello Stygi,

While the ".., back up your data OFTEN." part of your post may meet Apple Discussions Group policy, perhaps you should consider rewording your future comments about a hard drive manufacturer to be either a support question or answer.

They are junk because myself and several others have received multiple drives in a row that were DOA right out of the box.

Really? How about a link?

I see in another post that you also have a thing against 750GB drives.

Looks to me like you may be tailoring your response to individual threads based on which drive is mentioned. It is tough for one to maintain credibility that way.

Well that does it then you must be right. They make 20 million drives and the 10 you mention mean the other 19,999,990 are also defective.

Why buy them if you know they don't work? Start with one next time. 🙂
