iPod Touch does not turn on...

I was surfing on Safari and all of a sudden my browser closed and the iPod looked like it either turned off or put itself to sleep. When I went to turn it on or wake it up, it doesnt! its like both buttons on the thing dont work at all. when I plug it into my computer, it says cannot connect "iPhone" do to this error: 0xE800004. It thinks its an iPhone. What should i do, should I just go to the Genius Bar?
