SEO & iWeb: A Question
Can anyone out there help me with a question re: SEO and iWeb?
I'm about to spend a fare amount of money, forking it over to an internet company to do a full scale SEO (search engine optimization) on one of my sites - where I'll be selling a product. I've been told, iWeb doesn't generate "SEO friendly" code. Is that true?
I've been told, engines like Google don't like the "dirty code" iWeb creates. They need the standard, cleaner code and underlying structure (one css file, etc) to give out a high ranking. Is that true?
I'm going thru the trouble of creating my site in iWeb-to make it look just the way I want it-and then, when it's done, paying a web developer to rewrite it in Dreamweaver. It occurred to me, I really don't know if the original premise - that iWeb is not SEO friendly - is really true. Maybe I can just as easily hand over my site (I publish it to my drive and then upload to GO-DADDY) "as is" to the company who will be doing the SEO.
One thing: I do want to go all out on the SEO part - try to get as high a ranking as possible - on as many search engines as possible. If there's a chance that iweb generated code will interfere with this, I think I would want to have the programmer rewrite it.
Does anyone have experience with iWeb and SEO?
(By the way, after not being on this forum for a year or so, it's great to see some of the same names/top users-J.Tseng, varkgirl, others-all of whom are much wiser than myself, when it comes to these matters. Thank you.
