INTEGO VIRUS PROTECTION PROBLEM

I was wondering if anyone else has problems with Intego Virus Barrier protection, it slows down my computer? I am also having problems with USB ports and plug ins like keyboard and mouse, which may be a separate problem. I keep the background virus scan disabled lately so I am wondering if I should just trash the application?

Thanks
James

Whilst I broadly agree with Ray, you should have some virus protection on board, if only to prevent the spread of Windows viruses to Windows users via email etc. (There are no visuses in the wild that to date have affected Mac OS X)

For this purpose many of us use ClamXav:

which is free and does the job.

What kinds of system problems do people incur from running the AV Software such as this?

Norton has caused problems in the past, but otherwise nothing major as far as I know.

If the Intego didn't come with an uninstaller, try one of these:

AppZapper: http://appzapper.com/

AppCleaner: http://www.freemacsoft.net/AppCleaner/

Both work well.
