iMac G3/400 + AP: Secure WiFi using Dynex DX-WEGRTR router

I have an old iMac G3/400 running Tiger (10.4.11) with an original Airport Card. I have a brand new Dynex DX-WEGRTR wireless router hooked up to my DSL line (AT&T/Yahoo).

With the router's security OFF, I have no problems surfing the 'net. Works great, full signal. I use my other computer, a MPB 2.0ghz, to configure the router, and it also works great from anywhere in my house.

When I try to add security, my MPB has no problem, but the iMac G3 will read either a connection error or wrong password - even when the password is precisely correct. No matter what I try, I can't get the iMac to work with any WEP, WPA, or WPA2 security set-up.

I wrote Dynex, who said "Our router is fine. Take it up with Apple." Nice.

So here I am. Any ideas? Or do I have to let everyone within 100 ft of my house surf on my connection for free?
