I hope this is the right place for this question, if not let me know and I will repost. I would like to install this program. I have the mtr-0.72.tar.gz file and got it to open to mtr-0.72 now I am not sure what to do next to install it. Can anyone help me with this.?
Well, I assume what you mean is you unpacked the file. What are you left with now? Is it a package file (will have an open box icon) if so doubleclick and the installer will launch. If it is the program itself then drag it to its final location and it will be installed. If it is a disk image (should have the icon of a disk) then doubleclick and the image will mount.
OK when I open the folder mtr-0.72 there is a file called "Makefile.dist" (it is an open box icon)
With the "Makefile.dist" when I try to open it I get "Open Failed, couldn't open "Makefile.dist".
There is also a sub folder called "img" which has "Makefile.am & Makefile.in" If I try to open either of these it states there is no application specified.
