Cannot find Airport Extreme

Hello All,
I just rebuilt my laptop and installed the Airport Extreme software. When I go to "ReScan" for the base station, my computer cannot find it. I can however download updates for it. Also, the internet still works since I left the base station alone when I was rebuilding my laptop.

Does anyone know how I can connect to it? I have tried wirelessly and by ethernet cable.

I have tried the Choose other base station option and put in my IP and password, but I get an error saying:

An error occured while trying to access the base station. Make sure your network connection is valid and try again.

Error -6753

I know my connection is good, because I am on the apple forums writing this support ticket.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Ok. I tried it tonight. I brought my laptop directly next to the airport extreme and was going to connect the ethernet cable, when voila. The base station was found..... How? I really don't know. I know this won't completely help others, but I did notice that my wireless internet connection was not enabled and then was re-enabled when I started my machine. Maybe try disabling the wireless radio and then enabling it and seeing if you can find the base station. Thanks to everyone that replied.
