I'll soon have a black MacBook and I'm looking to buy a mouse. The black Apple Pro mouse would look really good with it, but I realize that it's an old model. Would this still work well on the new MacBook? I looked into the Mighty Mouse, but there are problems with the scroll ball lifespan so I would rather get one without it. Were there any lifespan issues with the Apple Pro mice?

I'd be surprised if it didn't work. I tried my old Apple Keyboard (polycarbonate bottom) this morning and it worked just fine.
That's reassuring.
Not really, but I noticed that the Pro Mice at my school have really short cord lengths. Probably about 1 foot long. And there's a little easter egg in there! Point the optical sensor somewhere solid and you'll see a cute little mouse! And I've had a wireless Mighty Mouse for a while and the scroll ball is still fine for me.
The cord length shouldn't be a problem to a MacBook, but I guess it would be for desktop computers. How long did you have the Mighty Mouse for?
The mouse cord length issue with MacBook -- at least the one I just got -- is that the USB ports are on the left side! I can barely use my old mouse with it, and I'll be looking for either a mouse with a longer cord or some sort of cord extension soon.
Of course that would be no problem at all for lefties. 😉
