Terminal will not open.

When I try and open the terminal from its place in the dock it bounces once and fails to open. When opened from the Utilities folder it fails to even appear in the dock.
When opened, this is written to Terminal.crash.log:

What is wrong with the terminal, and how can I fix it? I find the terminal to be a very valuable tool and would like to continue to use it.

Thankyou in advance,
Atyndall

I have the same problem. I followed the procedure recommended below with Pacifist, including a full reinstall of Terminal, but it still won't open. I used the "update" option on Pacifist before using full reinstall, but neither worked.

I also ran disk utility (repair disk permissions and repair disk) after the full install via Pacifist, no dice.

Anyone willing to take a look at the crash log?

Thanks.
