Convert Smart Playlist to Playlist

Any way to convert a smart playlist into just a playlist without creating a new one from scratch?

Mac Mini, Mac OS X (10.4.11), 19" Samsung monitor, OWC Mercury-AL 80 gig back-up, 30GB iPod, 2G Shuffle

What is the point?

Create a new regular PL - select all the tunes in the smart PL - drag them to the new regular PL and all the tunes from the smart PL will be in the new regular PL. Any updates to the smart PL will not show up in the regular PL.

I heard that the smart playlists chew more memory and make iTunes harder to open. I still actually have 512MB of memory; I know, hard to believe.

I was just looking for an easy way to convert. I "know" how to make a playlist I just didn't want to take the time to convert over 100 smart playlists to reg. playlists.

I think that the problem may be lots of playlists, not just lots of smart playlists. But, just in case, you may want to try unchecking live updating in the smart playlists.

Also, give some serious thought to more memory. If you're computer will take it, it will make your (computing) life easier all the way around.

Yeah, once I started with Smart Playlists I just keep going. It's not the worst thing that will ever happen in computing and it doesn't seem to affect my iPod at all sooooo.

Probably going to ditch the Mini soon and snag an iMac with 2GB of RAM. I'm sure I'll see a marked difference in everything. My beach ball is always spinning!

You'll see a huge difference with a newer computer. When I changed from a 12" powerbook to a Mac Book Core 2 Duo, no more spinning beach ball! And the first thing I do when I get a new computer is to max out the RAM.

Hi Meg, Just an update: I bought an iMac this week and had them put in 2 gigs of memory (instead of the 512mb in the Mini), what a difference. If I had the money I'd probably put in the max. Uploading pics from my camera used to be a couple minute operation, now it's about 5 seconds!

Select all the songs in your smart playlist. Select File>New Playlist From Selection.
