Changing line spacing when I press 'Enter'

When I press the 'Enter' key, sometimes it will skip a line and sometimes it will drop immediately to the next line (like I want it to). I know if I press 'Shift-Enter', it will drop me to the next line but then I can't use a different bullet type or tab over without affecting the line above it.

How do I go about either making it so when I press 'Enter', it drops me directly to the next line or change the bullet type and tab spacing on the second line without affecting the line above it?

Hopefully this makes sense. I searched the forums and the help file but couldn't find anything helpful.

I think you may have different "after paragraph" settings, one for zero points & one for the default of 12 points. Especially if it mostly a problem in a bullet style. Personally, I use 6 points. I recommend setting up your own default template with the spacing, fonts, etc. you want, saving that as a template then designating that as the default template in Pages' preferences.

Hey Peggy,

Thanks for your reply. I actually just created a new document and retyped everything (it wasn't too much typing but still rather would have been able to fix the problem instead of redoing it). I didn't save the file I was having issues with but I'll keep an eye on the "After paragraph" setting next time. I had thought I checked that setting but who knows.
