Lock Screen while talking on the phone?

Until 1.1.3, if you where talking to someone all you had to do was tap the button on the top and the screen would lock.

Now with this update, instead of locking the screen it now disconnects the call.

So since this not so impressive update, I've managed to hang up on 5 people. Some how I've dialed 2 other people, I guess in an attempt for a three way chat.

Is there anyway to fix this?

I'm almost ready to give up on this thing.

This seems to be a problem unique to you. I can lock the screen by tapping the button on the top and it does not disconnect the call.

I suggest doing a Restore to fix your 1.1.3 update.

Its not just him. I was talking to my gf last night (and a few others calls this weekend), and when I click that button, boom, disconnected call.
I do it because quite frankly, sometimes when im talking with it to my ear, i move around, and the phone wakes up, and ill bump the big END CALL button.
It was so nice to be able to lock it, that way I know I wont disconnect anyone.
I think this is a HORRIBLE change, like the OP said.

this is a real problem for me too, since the upgrade I've realized my working pattern is to cal via the headphones, hit the lock button and drop the phone into my pocket. Since I've upgraded I have hung up on countless people through this unconscious action, and when I finally trained myself to avoid the top button either mute or end gets hit accidentally in my pocket.
Can someone confirm that indeed a 1.13 does work with the lock while in headphone mode? A restore would probably be worth the hassle for this maddening action.

Wow. Were you having other problems too, or was it only because of this issue? I tried a soft reset, and then going back to default settings, but it still acts as a hang-up button. I guess I will call Apple now.

Sadly, this is already a replacement phone, my last one kept losing contact with the SIM card and displaying a "no sim detected" error.

Thanks for all the help everyone.

All these problems are indicative to the 1.1.3 update.

That's a pretty amazing statement. I've had 1.1.3 since the day it was released, and I have NONE of those problems. In fact I have no problems at all, with any function of the iPhone.

It's possible that the release did not install properly; the fix is to re-install the update.
