128 MB Ram and Puma, Tolerable???

Puma Os 10.1 is barely beyond the beta stage and has very little capabilites.

OS 10.2 is the first version of OS X which really offered any abilities AND most software requires at least OS 10.2.

Safari requires Jaguar OS 10.2.

Could firefox be installed if Safari isn't?
All I need it for is the internet and appleworks. Will puma be good enough, or am i Going to need Jaguar, Panther or Tiger?

The latest version of Firefox will work with OS X 10.2 (Jaguar). You'll want at least this version of OS X to run a current, modern browser. Although IIRC older versions of firefox (1.5) run in 10.1 so for the absolute basics you could get through.

is Puma even bearable? Is the interface anything like tiger, does it have a dock? Do u have to go into finder to open APPS.?

There is a Dock and Finder. The finder is significantly different than found in 10.3 or later though. You can see a screenshot of the desktop:

No, Leopard will only work on G4s.

Whether it's tolerable or not is more of a personal preference.

128 is the absolute bare minimum needed to run OS X. 128 MB will work, but even a small jump to 256 or a larger one to 512 will work better. It's all up to you.

RAM for these iMacs can be found pretty cheap these days if you're willing to shop around
