I have been having a problem for the last coupled of days with sending picture emails to cell phones using there SMS email address. For example, I was sending a picture email to a number@vzwpix.com from my AOL account and everything I always get an email back saying message undelieverable. I used to be able to send picture emails to verizon all the time, but now it wont let me. I can get the pictures I just can not hit reply. Am I doing something wrong? Can someone please help!?

jdotyoung,

I have quoted the relevant portion below:

That means that Verizon's SMTP server is refusing connections from AOL's SMTP server, and won't deliver the message.

I would recommend letting AOL know that Verizon's server is rejecting the message.

Hope this helps,

Nathan C.

It was a pretty HUGE disappointment to realize that the iPhone does not support MMS. I've paid $400 for this awesome piece of technology that can't do something that my old, beat to ****, $100 plain cellphone can--send/recieve a text message with an attached photo to/from another cellphone or iPhone. I did this routinely with my husband and friends and losing this capability is a drag. The iPhone has such a nice camera that I'd like to be able to capture nice photos and send them to friends and family--directly on their phone. And frankly I'd like to be able to receive photos. Please, Apple engineers, reconsider your stance on excluding MMS capability.

Have your Verizon friend update their cell phone - this process should be done every 90 days with a Verizon phone.

I was experiencing the same when sending an MMS via email to my niece who is a Verizon subscriber. Immediately after she updated her phone, she received my email as an MMS.

This is a user to user help forum only for technical support issues and questions. You aren't addressing anything to any Apple employees and especially to Apple engineers - who take their direction from higher ups at Apple anyway.

You can accomplish the same via email.

Have someone that you want to exchange MMS with send you an MMS addressed to an email address for an email account that you access with the iPhone's Mail client.

They will enter the email address you provide them in the To: field for the MMS. The MMS will be received by you as an email with the photo attached to the message.

This will also give you the sender's MMS gateway for their provider - or cell phone email address for MMS.

Enter this email address as an available email address in the contact's information in your iPhone's address book.

Attach a photo to an email and select/enter this email address in the To: field when addressing the message. The email will be received by the recipient as an MMS.
