iphone freezes and heats up

The following has happened to me twice and I hope that apple is aware of it:

I was lying on my bed, watching youtube videos (wi-fi on). I fell asleep in the middle of a video with the iphone on my chest. I woke up an hour later with the iphone frozen on the youtube video info page BURNING HOT. It was seriously so hot that my hand got burned trying to reset it. I eventually got it off by pressing the buttons with my blanket covering it.

People have told me to just stop using the youtube and wi-fi at night. But seeing as how wi-fi and youtube was a very big part of this product's purposes, it really should be addressed and fixed.

mine does the exact same thing.
when i use edge it gets very hot. but i don't seem to have a problem with wifi.
and when i first upgraded to 1.1.3 i couldn't listen to 30 seconds of a song with out it crashing.
i kept having problems with it like corrupt music, messed up album art.
i called the other day and they said it seems like a hardware issue and to go to the apple store i told them i didn't live near one and they are sending a RMA box.
some days it will freeze all the time and some days it will only freeze 2-3 times
but i hope they can notice the problems i have been facing. so i can get it replaced

Sounds like you have a hardware problems.

If you are getting a loaner iPhone during this process, Apple makes this easy. The box that includes the loaner iPhone which is the box you'll use to return your iPhone to AppleCare also includes a paperclip for removing your iPhone's SIM card and placing it in the loaner iPhone along with tape to reseal the box. The return shipping label is located below the shipping label to you. After placing your iPhone's SIM card in the loaner iPhone, you will be able to place and receive calls and SMS messages right away but you must sync the loaner iPhone with iTunes on your computer for placing the same data on the loaner iPhone - you can use your iPhone's backup file so the loaner iPhone settings will also be identical.

Be sure to erase all data and settings on your iPhone before returning it to AppleCare. Before turning your iPhone off to remove the SIM card, go to Settings > General > Reset and select Erase All Content and Settings.

This process should take no more than 5 business days including the shipping in both directions and if your iPhone is replaced, you will reverse this process with the loaner iPhone.
