Ghost file icons appear on desktop?
This just started happening last night... I was using OSX Mail to send a file that was located on my desktop... when a duplicate of that file's icon appeared on my desktop...
Now, every time I download a file using safari, or open or close a window, another duplicate file appears on my desktop... Sometimes it's a folder, sometimes a file, and each time a new one appears and an old one goes away... Craziest thing I've ever seen. Any idea at all what the heck is happening and how I can possibly fix it? I've tried deleting the ghost file, but that deletes the original file also... Each ghost file corresponds to its original file, and there are only one or two ghost files at any given time, but it's ridiculous...
Is there a way to rebuild the desktop like there was in OS 9? Is there some sort of corrupted preferences file that I should trash?
Any idea would be helpful.
