ActiveX on the Mac???

I work at a health system and I am told that the new "portal" that will allow a physician to place orders remotely will require "an ActiveX control and a DLL load for all devices." I believe that there is no ActiveX on the Mac. Is that not correct?

When I use Citrix, I can use the Citrix client or a Java client. Can I assume there may be a Java client that should meet this need?

I find it hard to believe that a major hospital EHR vendor would exclude remote Macintosh users. That to me would be foolish since physicians seem to more frequently prefer Macs for their home machines than the general population.

I have a meeting on this 2/6 in the afternoon. Any help would be appreciated.

(Google search of macintosh and activex retrieved articles from 1996 if dated.)
