I just started having this iPod self ejecting problem today w/ my Air. It started when I connected a USB splitter since the Air only has one USB port so I was running my mouse and the iPod via the splitter. When I connected the iPod directly to the USB port w/out the splitter the problem stopped. Also the splitter (hub) I was using has an external power source that I was not using when having this problem. When I connected the power supply and then connected my iPod through the splitter w/ the mouse also connected the iPod remained connected and did not self eject. So the problem appears to be a power problem. So if anyone having this problem is using a USB hub or splitter especially and unpowered one try connecting the iPod directly to the USB port.
God bless!

hi, i thought i'd offer an alternative solution as i found something that worked for me.

i got my first ipod yesterday (the classic 80gb) and i have had this problem. it kept ejecting itself intantly. well...i managed to update it to 1.1.2 and sync it once but then i had this problem since. i tried different usb ports and also different cables but nothing worked.

this is what finally worked:
before, i always had itunes open and running then plugged in my ipod and i got this problem. i tried closing itunes, and just plugging in my ipod to the computer without itunes running and it didn't eject (nor did it open itunes for me as apparently it is supposed to) so anyway i connected and it held the connection without ejecting, then i opened itunes manually by clicking the icon and it held the connection. at this time i changed the settings to manually sync the ipod and to use it as a hard disc, and since then (only this morning) it has worked ok and not kept ejecting. hopefully it'll continue to work in this way. good luck guys hope it works for you too.

what a crappy company apple must be to have such a high profile product used my millions and it's just plagued with constant problems and bugs. my mobile has to do 3 times as many things as the ipod and it never has any trouble. sort it out apple!!!!!
