HP w2207h monitor with HDMI port

Hi all

I have this monitor which does not have a DVI port, but a VGA and an HDMI port. I just got my Mac Pro, but I have problems when using the HDMI port. I use a DVI to HDMI cable. The Mac detects the monitor and gives it the right name, but it at a 1680x1050 resolution, but the screen stays black. If I put it to a lower resolution, it works but of course, the display is not good.

It works just fine if I use the VGA cable but I'd like to have the greated quality of the DVI/HDMI ports. Any idea how to fix this ?

Thanks a lot

I also have the same monitor but im hookin it up to my macbook pro through the VGA connection. I would love to know if the HDMI-DVI adaptor is worth the try to improve Image Quality. Cause right now im not getting that crispness running dual screen compared side by side with the macbook pro's lcd screen (using VGA to connect to the HP screen).
