Movies on iPod but not iTunes

I have some movies that I'd like on my 30G iPod Video. I have about 5 or 6 movies, and they take up quite a bit on my hard drive, which is running out of room. I don't really care about having the movies on my iTunes, as I have them backed up and I can readily access them if I need them, but I really want all the movies on my iPod. Is there a way to make the movies stay on my iPod once I sync them, but won't leave if I choose not to sync it all the time? I still want to sync my music, but not the movies or tv shows. I tried to manually manage all music and videos but then I realized when it says manually, it really meant manually which I didnt really want. I didnt realize if I put lyrics on a song, it wouldnt even update that! After selecting manually manage music and videos, I just checked the sync music button under the tabs thinking I finally found the trick, but yet again it didnt work. Anyways, if someone could help in any way it would be much appreciated! Hopefully you can make some sense out of this jumbled mess. Thanks in advance!
