Is there a way to Hide End Call Button?

I take it you are using the speaker and not putting the iPhone to your head, in which case, all buttons on the screen are deactivated by the proximity sensor?

There is no way to disable this button that I know of, apart from what you suggest.

Is your iPhone in a case that covers the proximity sensor? If not, the iPhone should disable the screen, go dark, and hide the buttons when it is close to your face.

The proximity sensor is near the top edge between the earpiece speaker and the top chrome EDGE, in strong light such as sunlight you can see the glass is not as dark there to allow the IR sensor to pass through.

When I'm on a call on headphones and I want to drop the phone into its holster, I press the sleep/wake button to blackout the screen and controls until I'm done.

i personally use the otterbox defender case and I love it so far. everything but the silent ring switch works in it. I would recomend this case highly since it offers screen protection as well.

I'm happy with this case. Got it at the AT&t store. Nice leather and has a removable clip attachment if you don't want to use the clip.

YES! Since the iPod Touch doesn't have a phone, the Touch cases do not have the cut outs for the earpiece speaker and proximity sensor. I bet that's why your proximity sensor isn't working, and you probably can't hear your callers unless you're using headphones, since the ear speaker is covered by your case. (Although on second thought, if the sensor was covered all the time, I don't see how the screen would ever turn on?)

I am a woman who carries her iPhone in her purse 🙂 and I LOVE my iSkin Revo. It keeps my phone well protected and gives it good "grip" so it doesn't feel like it's going to slip out of my hand. I don't use the hard plastic "windshield" thingie that came with it, I just use a Power Support Crystal Film on my screen, and that works great. My phone is as perfect as the day I got it - no nicks or scratches at all.

I agree with sanguinarian. I have the otterbox too and actually found solutions to the silent switch problem. Either you can turn the volume all the way down or make a silent ringtone so that when it rings, it's silent...genius huh? Yes, I think so too.

SImply press the sleep/wake button at the top of the phone while in use. It will lock the screen until your call is completed. This works with or without the headphones plugged in and with a bluetooth headset as well.

The screen will turn off if the proximity sensor is covered while it is on, or after a while it will shut off for inactivity. If you purposely turn it on with the sensor covered the screen may remain active.
