Safari is suddenly slow

Safari worked just fine when I first bought my macbook pro. Lately, its been very slow. Pages often time out and pictures don't show. The rest of my mac seems unaffected, only Safari is having a problem. Videos are slow to load, and more than one video loading a time crashes Safari. This also is new.
Ive reset Safari, but it didnt change anything. Could it be a virus?

Don't know if this will help you, but I noticed Safari taking a long time to open and a long time to quit. Pages would sometimes be slow to load. I was curious and Googled. I found a suggestion to do the following, and it worked like a charm...

* go to User/Library/Caches and dump the Safari folder.

* go to User/Library/Safari and dump the Icons folder.

My Safari bounced once off the dock and then opened lickety split.

Just to add to Diane's good advice:

Empty Safari's cache (from the Safari menu), then close Safari.

Go to Home/Library/Safari and delete the following files:

form values
download.plist

Then go to Home/Library/Preferences and delete

com.apple.Safari.plist

Repair permissions.

Start up Safari again, and things should have improved.

If not, MacFixit have published a very detailed (very!) article on speeding up a slow Safari, here:
