How do you make REX files on OSX/intel macs??

Hi,

It's been a while since I needed to do this. I think I used to own Recycle back in the OS9 days. Is that still the ONLY app that makes .REX files? Is there something equivalent on OS X that is also universal binary?

Just Recycle, which runs in Rosetta mode.

Has it been updated for Leopard yet? Recycle 2.1 crashes every minute in Leopard, and they've been promising an update for months.

ah, OK. I guess they do still own the rights to be the exclusive makers of that format. 🙂

Malcolm is right, their discussion forum is loaded with people complaining about Recycle crashing under Leopard. I think I'll just go ahead and use it on my Powerbook under Tiger..now off to upgrade that puppy.

They're beta testing the new version of Recycle right now. I'd suggest joining the Beta test team if you need it in Leopard now. Here's a link to their website. On it, you'll see the link for Recycle Beta testers needed.

By the way, FWIW, I now have Ableton Live 7, and it's support for rex files is OUTSTANDING!

sweet! Good to know they are on top of it. (they always are!). I'm getting into using Stylus RMX properly. Finally got to watch the tutorial videos and was blown away how awesome it is. They require REX files if you plan on using your own loops and files.
