Date Stamp directly on Photo

Please tell me there is a method within iPhoto to date stamp a photo for print. I need the date / time stamped *_directly on the image_* that will be printed
Thanks in advance.

Power Mac, Mac OS X (10.5.1), iPhoto 08 7.1.1

there is not - most cameras can do this when you take the photo but iPhoto does not provide this type of editing - PhotoShop Elements does as do other third party editors

Unfortunately, I forgot to activate the date stamp on my camera. Guess I'll have to insert the stamp via Photo Elements. Maybe iPhoto 09 will have the option.
